When Ed Sutton first came to Cherokee in November to break ground on a new trail system, his directive was clear.
“We told him his marching orders were just make it great. Make it awesome,” said Jeremy Hyatt, Secretary of Administration for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Before you can do trail work in Pisgah and Bent Creek you must sign up by clicking here http://www.pisgahareasorba.org/contact/add-me-to-the-trail-crew-list/. Once you are officially on the list someone will send you an e-mail letting you know you can come out to dig on future work days. The NFS requires everyone to sign up for liability reasons.
All other locations do not require you to be on the list.

I first noticed the gaping hole in the side of the trail on a night ride. A large dead oak had fallen on Homestead trail and ripped away part of the tread in a narrow spot with no reasonable alternate line on a heavily used trail in Bent creek. 8:30AM Assemble at Fawn Lake Access area for instructions, coffee and donuts, divide into crews.
9:00AM Leave for Trails
Car pool, walk, bike.

Do drainage work on Mine Mountain, Laurel
Ridge, and Airstrip Trails. Water and protein
