Adopt-A-Highway August 15th at 3:00 PM

Not just any highway, we have adopted Wesley Branch Road going into Bent Creek Experimental Forest.
This 2-mile stretch is from Brevard Rd./191 all the way to the boundaries of Bent Creek Forest. Our sign is already up which is great exposure for PAS. This is a community involvement effort and can help beautify the entrance corridor to one of the most popular trailheads in Pisgah. We will volunteer on litter pickup 4 times per year, for 4 years, on this stretch of important road. Wesley Branch Road is fairly clean …

Weekend at Dupont! Trail Daze and Rides! 8/6 – 8/8

August 6-8, 2010
Camping Friday and Saturday nights, depart on Sunday. .
Friday campers can arrive anytime after 4:00 PM.
We will camp at the Barn.
Showers and toilet available.
Enter through the gate on Reasonover Road/Conservation Road only (GATE LOCK # WILL BE PROVIDED THROUGH EMAIL FROM JONATHAN PRIOR TO EVENT. THEREFORE ALL CAMPERS MUST ALSO EMAIL JONATHAN AT extrmtao@hotmail.com with a subject line of “UpState SORBA Dupont Campout”).

ORAMM – Volunteers Needed!

Pisgah Area SORBA is proud to provide Aid Station Support for 11th Off-Road Assault on Mt Mitchell (ORAMM) on July 25th. We need 4 Volunteers, a pickup truck, a car or two, and the ability to make the most awesomeness Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches around. Volunteers are to arrive at Race Central in Old Fort at 7:20 AM, load up, set up at the Parkway Stop just before Heartbreak, and plan to man the aid station until 3:30 PM. You are welcome to stay for the After Race Party.

Pisgah Mountain Bike Stage Race – Volunteers Needed!

Come out and support the Richest Cash Purse Stage Race’s in America as well as the partnership between Blue Ridge Adventures and Pisgah Area SORBA.  The Race runs from September 14-18th and we need approximately 20 volunteers each day starting Wednesday (15th) and going through Saturday (18th). Volunteers range from Course Marshalls, Aid Station support, roving Course Marshalls, and Sweeps. PAS Chapter meeting August 9th

All members as well as non-members are encouraged to attend our Pisgah area SORBA Chapter meeting. This meeting is to keep everyone up to date on all our upcoming activities. This meeting also gives anyone in attendance an opportunity to participate in the chapter. We try to keep these meetings short to allow for more social time to get to know one another. Patrol Training 6/19/10

If you were riding and rolled up on somebody who was hurt or had a mechanical problem, would you help them?  If you answered yes to this question then you’re like most riders and you belong in the National Mountain Bike Patrol.
We are offering a training session on 6/19/10 to bring train new people into the patrol.  The training will be held at:

Pisgah Area SORBA (PAS) recently learned that the Pisgah District is accepting contracts bids per the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) for detailed maintenance work on Squirrel Gap and Fletcher Creek trails as well as several trails in the Bent Creek Experimental Forest. DuPont Trailwork day 6/5/10

Come out and help our friends at Upstate SORBA.
June 5th 9:00AM

Bring Lunch, water, work gloves, helmet so on and so forth.

Jonathan Laroy of Upstate SORBA we be leading the charge for this trail work day.
This will be basic water management work on Ridgeline and Jim Branch. Richmond Hill Urban Mountain Bike Challenge Results

Pisgah Area SORBA and the Mountain Sports Festival would like to thank all the racers who participated in the inaugural Richmond Hill Urban Mountain Bike Challenge!  Without your interest, no event could have occurred.
This was also my first attempt at being an event promoter. Needless to say, I was pretty nervous coming into the day.  Fortunately, the event went off pretty smoothly, with 40 registered riders and a fairly organized start.  Mixing several different cycling elements, the event started on the track then onto the greenway to the road.  The …
