PAS – Bent Creek -Trail Work Day – 2/12/2017 –
9:00 AM-4:00 PM
Location to sign in for trail work:
Hardtimes parking lot in Bent creek or the vicinity.
Information about trail work day:
We are planning to repair a small but critical spot on Homestead trail. A fallen tree has taken out part of the tread and left a very crumbly edge which won’t last long with a couple heavy rains and heavy foot and bike traffic. There is no reasonable alternate line. We will be using machines, wheelbarrows, etc to move rock in along the trail to make the repair. Material will be dumped at the Hardtimes end of Homestead and we will move it from there. We are planning all day but folks can give as much time as they can manage. Hopefully the weather will hold and we can make this happen. Hope to see y’all out.
If you plan to attend please e-mail.
All volunteers are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with USFS guidelines.
Pisgah Area SORBA has hard-hats, glasses and gloves for your use, though we suggest you bring your own. You can borrow them for the day or purchase on-site for future use. Due to safety regulations, bicycle helmets are not acceptable.
Long pants and non-slip footwear are also required. We suggest you also plan on bringing a day pack with adequate food, water and weather gear (rain shell, etc.) Crew Leaders reserve the right to assess each volunteer’s PPE to ensure compliance with land manager agreements.
Hope to see you turning dirt at our next trail work day.
