Avery Trail Work Day, February 2nd, 2017
Written by: David Knupp
After some intel came down the pipe from Mark Steirwalt about some down trees on Avery, I threw it out to Bill Hascher and he came back with ‘I can go tomorrow’, so we went and done it. Greg joined us for a stellar walk in the woods with chainsaws and dogs. Ran shuttle for a walk through accessing from Club Gap trail which was a fairly painless way to do it. Bill chop-chopped on 5 or 6 small to largish trees. Two of them were directly in the creek, so was glad to have biodegradable bar oil with us. Beautiful day to be outside and probably should have been riding, but giving back to Pisgah trails is hard to resist. Big thanks to Bill and Greg for doing this with me and thanks to PAS for providing support for the improvement of trails in this part of WNC.
