So after a week of some sunshine and a couple days of rain we returned to Ledford trail to complete the rock armoring project. When we retruned to the former mud pit we found a small amount of water which confirmed our need to rock armor this section of trail due to water seeping from below. After a lot of work hauling in rock and gravel we hope this section of trail will be mud free for some time.
We also worked on removing another mud filled area of the trail which we are now happy to say Ledford trail is currently free of muck and mud for now. We also created two more drains with nicks to help water get off the trail to help prevent the mud areas of the trail happening again.
There are still major issues on this trail that need to be fixed, which include some more nics, drains and rolling grade dips that need to be created to help keep water off this trail.
Thanks to the following people below for their work on getting this done.
David, Greg, Julie, Chris N and Douge.

Lots of muck and poorly draining trails was the site of Ledford trail today after a hard night of heavy rain. Ledford trail is known as the trail you stay away from when it rains. The pictures show just why this is so. Thanks to David, Julie, Greg and Chris N for cleaning out the muck , creating several new nicks, cleaning drains and preparing one of the worst spots on the trail for some new rock armor which will have to be hauled in by wheelbarrow and truck. The trail crew is hoping to have the rock armor done soon. All the mud holes on the trail were attacked with the exception of one that will also need some special rocks hauled in by wheelbarrow. Hopefully this work will help this trail well into fall and spring of next year during the freeze thaw process that always plays havoc on this trail.
After all that work, a special thanks is in order to David and Julie for hand sawing out a 6-8 fallen tree on lower Greens Lick that fell this week.
