The Bent Creek Bowl Rim Rides!

Click here to go to Meetup site for ride times and details.
Pisgah area SORBA will be hosting a Beginner and a Intermediate rides in Bent Creek.
We will meet every Wednesday at the Rice Pinnacle parking area. The rides are as follows:
The Lower Rim Ride. This is more of a beginner friendly social ride of approximately 9 to11 miles in length. We will be riding the middle to lower trails around the Bent Creek bowl. Most of what we ride is deemed easy. There will however be some challenging climbs and downhills. The amount of these will be decided by the group. However there is nothing in Bent Creek that’s flat. We will ride what everyone is comfortable with. I’ve said there’s nothing in Bent Creek I can’t walk. If you feel you are too slow for a group ride this might be the ride to try. We will be stopping often and no one will be left behind. So dust off your bike, pump up your tires, lube your chain and come and join us. Plan on spending about two hours or so in the woods.
The Middle Rim Ride (This may be a night ride so bring your lights) This is an advanced beginner to intermediate casual ride and is ideal for those riders ready to move to a bit more challenging group with a moderate increase in speed, distance and technical challenges. This ride will be made up of more technically challenging trails, have slightly bigger climbs, and cover a greater distance than the Lower Rim Ride but is less challenging than the Upper Rim Ride. The route will vary each week and no rider will be left behind. Plan on spending about 2-2.5 hours or so on this ride.
The Upper Rim Ride. (This may be a night ride so bring your lights) . This is an intermediate casual ride. This ride will be made up of more technically challenging trails and have bigger climbs then the middle Rim Ride at a faster pace. The route will very each week and no rider will be left behind. Plan on spending about 2.5 hours or so on this ride.
If attending a night ride a good bike light at 300+ Lumen is preferred. Click this link to learn about lights. R
Because this is a SORBA sanctioned ride all Non-PAS members are required to sign a waiver.
Helmets are required and biking gloves are recommended. Bring along a spare tube, water and snacks for the ride.
Weather permitting, we will be meeting at the Rice Pinnacle Parking Area. Should there be bad weather we will make the call at 4pm and post it on PAS Facebook.

Great ride tonight everyone. Good luck to you guys participating at ORAMM!! this weekend.
We had 10 riders on the Lower Rim Ride. On our way to Boyd Branch Trail we encountered a dog that was bound and determined to get hit. It ran in front of me and I missed it by inches. It did the same to Lester and I believe he hit it. Unfortunately Sam wiped out because of it. Both Sam and the dog were ok. We continued on to Explore Loope where Mary Beth made the call to take the lower trail, good call. On the ride back a lightning bolt cracked and missed us by inches, I only soiled myself a little :) David, I hope Sam's ok and you all can ride with us next week. Thanks all for coming out, I had a great ride.
Great turn out tonight, glad to see so many people came out. Here is the intermediate ride data. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/99002442
