This Saturday…The City of Brevard in partnership with the Transylvania County Library, Sycamore Cycles, Carmichael Training Systems, The Hub & Backcountry Outdoors, Sylvan Sport, Davidson River Outfitters, the Sport Spot & Looking Glass Outfitters, is sponsoring the
“Spring Fling: Celebrating Outdoor Activities with Kids in Transylvania County” for all elementary age school children in Transylvania County, this Saturday, May 12, 2012 from 10am-3pm.The Spring Fling is
free and will be held at South Broad Park at the corner of Gaston, Broad and Varsity Streets in downtown Brevard. Parking will be available at South Broad Park or at the Transylvania County Library. There will be a Fun Run/Ride for any child who would like to participate at 10am and other activities that will run throughout the day will include a bike rodeo to teach kids how to ride bikes safely, helmet fitting, a bike maintenance station, face painting courtesy of the Brevard High School Art Guild, a sidewalk chalk drawing area, and performances from a professional Trails Rider, Austin Parsons.There will also be several organizations present providing demonstrations and information about outdoor activities and healthy lifestyle choices including Muddy Sneakers, Backcountry Horsemen of Pisgah, Friends of the Ecusta Trail, the Transylvania County Health Department, & Gwynn Valley Camp.Any questions can be directed to Sarah Lutz with the City of Brevard Planning Department at 828-885-8630 or
